Aadi Story

Kannagi, as mentioned in the story of Attukkal yesterday is worshipped at the Kodungallur Bhagavathi temple as she merged into Sri Bhadrakali here. The deity of Bhadrakali here is nearly 7 ft tall, carved out of jackfruit tree wood. Poojas are carried out under direct instructions from Devi herself. 5 Sri Chakras installed by Sri Adi Sankara are believed to be the main source of power of Devi. Devi destroyed the demon Daruka who troubled Parasurama after the creation of Kerala. The pond in the temple compound is believed to have been created when Devi struck the ground with her sword.
