Achankovil Sri Dharma Sastha Temple.

The Achankovil is a river in Kerala that flows towards the southern tip of India. The Achankovil Sri Dharma Sastha temple, along with many other famous temples is located on the banks of the Achankovil river.

Lord Sri Dharma Sastha resides here in the 'Grihastha Ashrama' stage of life - as a householder with His consorts Poorna & Pushkala. The sanctum sanctorum has a deity of Sri Dharma Sastha flanked by Poorna & Pushkala on both sides. It is believed that the deity of Sri Dharma Sastha was consecrated by Lord Parasurama.

The Achankovil Dharma Sastha temple is famous for curing snake bites. The left hand of the deity of Lord Ayyappa here holds sandalwood paste & holy water. The sandal paste & holy water offered in this temple as prasadam are believed to possess strong curative properties. The most important festival here is held during the first 10 days of the Malayalam month of Dhanu (December-January).

May Achankovil Arasan - the almighty ruler at Achankovil, bless one and all.
