Swami Saranam Series part 26

Gurunathanmukadi Sri Ayyappaguru Temple.
The Gurunathanmukadi Sri Ayyappaguru temple is situated on a hill on the banks of the Achankovil river, opposite the Panthalam Valiya Koikkal Dharma Sastha temple. This temple is dedicated to the Guru who taught Lord Ayyappa in His boyhood. This Guru reached Panthalam as guided by Lord Shiva in a dream & established a gurukulam (traditional Indian school) on a hill.
Manikantha learnt all the arts & scriptures from His Guru here & became his most brilliant student ever. The Guru, pleased with Manikantha's extraordinary qualities, presented Him with a golden dagger. Manikantha, as we already know, cured the Guru's son who had been deaf & dumb since birth. The hill has become a holy place due to the contact with Lord Ayyappa's footprints & the time He spent here as a student, & also due to the blessings of His Guru. Lord Ayyappa's Guru spent the rest of his life on this hill & finally attained the state of samadhi. The temple complex houses deities of Lord Ayyappa, His Guru, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Devi, Lord Ganesha, Nagaraja & Nagayakshi.
May Sadguru Natha - the Universal teacher & master, bless one and all.
