Malamakkavu Ayyappa Temple.
Malamakkavu Ayyappa temple is located at Anakkara in Palakkad district. The name originated as follows: Mala-mel-kavu (the temple on top of the hill : Mala meaning hill & Kavu meaning temple), which gradually turned into Malamakkavu.
The temple legend is similar to some other temples in Kerala. A couple from the cattle grazing community chanced upon a rock while grazing their livestock in the forest. Blood started oozing out of the rock upon being struck with a sickle. Soon people became aware of its divinity & the deity was formally installed in a temple after astrological investigations & poojas.
Legend has it that if one sincerely offers prayers to Lord Ayyappa here & places offerings at His feet, a rare flower called 'Neelathamara' or blue lotus will bloom in the temple pond the next day, as a sign of the Lord's blessing.
May Sarvamangala Dayaka - the one who bestows auspiciousness & good fortune bless one and all
