Part-13

Pavanapuresha series part 13: Guruvayurappa - the friend of little children.

Once a little brahmin boy belonging to the Nenmini Ilam(family) had to perform all the pujas in place of his father. After the puja, the child placed the rice offering in front of Guruvayurappa & innocently believed that He would eat all of it. When the Lord did not eat the food, the little boy went & brought some buttermilk & salted mangoes for the Lord to make the food tastier. Yet when the Lord did not arrive, the boy cried bitterly. Moved by his innocence, the Lord appeared & finished eating all the rice. When the boy went to the temple attendant with empty vessels, he complained to his father who raised his hand to hit the child. It was then that a voice was heard from the sanctum sanctorum - 'I am the guilty one - the child is innocent'. Thus the Lord proved the innocence & faith of the little child.

May Santanagopala - the protector of children, bless us all!
